ELMO Software launches gender pay gap reporting tool in time for April 2024 WGEA deadline

Sydney 18 March 2024

ELMO Software, the Australian-headquartered HR technology platform, today announced the launch of a gender pay gap reporting tool designed to significantly reduce the administrative burden on HR professionals undertaking the mandatory Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reporting for companies with 100 or more employees.

The new functionality has been piloted by a select group of ELMO’s customers and found to significantly reduce complexity, saving up to 50% of the time it normally takes to collate and process the data required by WGEA.

According to Joseph Lyons, Chief Executive Officer at ELMO Software, the Gender Equality Reporting Tool is designed to empower conversations with our customers on workplace equality and reduce the onerous process of WGEA reporting.

“We developed this tool in response to feedback from customers that they were really struggling to meet their gender pay gap reporting obligations in a timely and accurate manner.

“To ensure this new functionality meets their needs, we included a range of customers in a pilot of the new tool over the last six weeks and the feedback is extremely positive, particularly relating to the time they were able to save, and the accuracy of the process,” he says.

“Rather than an arduous once a year event, ELMO customers will be able to monitor their metrics throughout the year. This process of continuous feedback will help identify the initiatives that are truly moving the dial when it comes to an organisation’s gender pay gap.”

All customers with ELMO’s core HR software and reporting capability can access the new functionality free of charge. The new tool is designed to work with any payroll system.

According to Lyons: “The moral argument for closing the gender pay gap is a given. We believe the debate now needs to shift to the economic imperative because not closing the gender pay gap may be costing companies more than they think.”

According to research1 conducted by ELMO, the impact of a significant pay gap on employees’ attitudes and behaviours is striking:

  • 35% said they would consider leaving their organisation (48% of women, 28% of men)
  • 15% said they wouldn’t try as hard (19% women, 11% of men)

Lyons added: “Our research shows a significant proportion of Australian women would consider leaving their organisation if they discovered it had a large gender pay gap. While walking out may not be realistic in these tough economic times, the research showed that women are also more likely to check out.

“Business leaders must recognise that a disenfranchised workforce is one of the hidden costs of the gender pay gap – a cost that will deliver a significant blow to the productivity and bottom line of every business.

“We are confident that through the ELMO Gender Equality Reporting Tool we are providing HR leaders with the accurate data and economic lens they need to prioritise closing the gender pay gap in their organisation.”
