ELMO becomes first ANZ-headquartered HR platform to achieve ISO/IEC 42001 AI governance certification
Certification reinforces ELMO’s responsible AI commitment, building on its ISO/IEC 27001 information security certification
ELMO Software has become the first ANZ-headquartered HR platform to achieve ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS), marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to responsible AI development and governance.
ISO/IEC 42001 is the international standard for AIMS. It provides an independently audited framework for how organisations design, deploy and continuously govern AI systems, helping ensure AI is managed responsibly, transparently and with appropriate oversight.
The certification follows ELMO’s recent repositioning as The Complete AI Workforce Platform™ and reflects the company’s continued investment in helping organisations adopt AI with confidence, underpinned by strong governance, trusted data foundations and local expertise.
ELMO also holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security management, strengthening the foundations behind how the company protects customer data, operates securely and governs AI responsibly.
Together, ISO/IEC 42001 and ISO/IEC 27001 provide customers with assurance across both AI governance and information security. In practice, this means customers have:
- greater transparency into how AI capabilities are developed, governed and deployed across the ELMO platform
- ethical safeguards embedded throughout AI-enabled workflows and decision support
- ongoing AI-specific risk management that is continually reviewed and refined
- greater confidence meeting emerging AI governance expectations, particularly in highly regulated sectors including financial services, healthcare and government.
Chief Technology Officer Josh McKenzie said organisations were increasingly looking beyond AI functionality to understand how AI was governed.
“Businesses want confidence that AI is being developed responsibly, with transparency and ongoing oversight, particularly when it supports workforce decisions,” McKenzie said.
“Achieving ISO/IEC 42001 demonstrates we’ve built governance into our AI from the outset. It provides an independently verified framework for how we develop, manage and continually improve AI across our platform, giving customers confidence that AI capabilities are supported by internationally recognised governance standards.”
The certification forms part of ELMO’s broader strategy to help organisations prepare for AI-enabled workforces. As AI adoption accelerates, ELMO says responsible AI is becoming an increasingly important differentiator as organisations look for technology partners that can support innovation, governance and security in equal measure.
