Seven in ten Australian employees plan to stay put in their jobs this year, with a focus on promotions, pay rises and career development on the employee agenda, new research shows.
That’s according to the ELMO Employee Sentiment Index – a nationwide poll commissioned by ELMO Software. This index provides a quarterly update of sentiment among more than 1,000 geographically dispersed Australian workers about their attitudes, actions and concerns in the workplace over the past three months, in addition to their plans and expectations for the future.
The research revealed 34% of employees say the fear of a recession is encouraging them to remain in their current role, and a further 16% say they plan to look for a new job internally, favouring the security of their existing employer to find their next role.
Australian workers are also divided as to who will have the balance of power in the job market this year. Despite economic concerns, more employees think it is still a candidate’s job market – but only by a small 4% margin.
The insights and statistics from this report can be a helpful tool for organisations considering how best to support their workforce this year.
