City of Darwin governs essential community services such as waste management, domestic animal management, playgrounds and recreational facilities, city libraries and town planning. They work to build a community with second-to-none infrastructure and community services.
City of Darwin was looking to upgrade its learning & development platform to something that was more contemporary, automated and easy to use.
“We wanted to put it back in the hands of employees and managers, giving that person 90% of their working life back to them so they could improve themselves as well and look at doing more strategic things on the learning & development side,” says Amber Garden, Senior Advisor, People Culture & Capability at City of Darwin.
City of Darwin chose ELMO’s Learning Management System and Course Builder to meet the unique demands of the organisation.
For Garden, ELMO was the right fit, and something she tried to get implemented since she first saw the modules presented at an AHRI (Australian Human Resources Institute) convention over 5 years ago.
“I looked at several different systems at that stage. Over those 5 years, ELMO has grown to meet the market needs and organisational needs. Every time I’ve gone back to the business to present my business case, I’ve always gone out to the market to see what else is out there and there hasn’t been one vendor that’s been as good as an overall HRIS. It was really the Learning Management System that sealed it for me.”
Garden has also appreciated the ability to “add on” as required, in the form of different modules in each area of talent management. “I think it makes it easier for the change management process for an organisation in terms of bringing it in and building acceptance for each little bit,” she says.
Garden adds that she “can’t wait” to see what ELMO comes up with next.
